  • Subject: Call for sign ons: Solidarity with La Puya; Solidaridad con La Puya, Guatemala

Organizations and individuals are invited to sign on to this letter in solidarity with the Peaceful Resistance of La Puya. For twelve years, as of March 2nd, they have been organizing in defense of water, community health and self-determination up against the El Tambor gold mining project currently owned by Nevada-based Kappes, Cassiday & Associates.

This company is also unjustly suing Guatemala for over US$400 million since its project was halted in 2016 for lack of prior consultation with affected indigenous people.

We are collecting signatures of organizations and individuals until end of day on February 29th.

Thank you!
